For small and medium-sized companies and private individuals, our company offers direct purchase of spring water "Svatojánský pramen" (“Spring of Saint John”) at our water factory for a favourable retail price of CZK 60 per barrel of 18.9 l.
History of the Spring
In 1599 a miraculous spring of mineral water was discovered in Deštná and in 1602 a little church of St. John the Baptist had been built above this spring. At that time, pilgrimages were held here with great amounts of people participating, during the festival of St. John the Baptist up to 8,000 pilgrims visited the small church, which established the glory of the Deštna spa built during the 17th century. Many people, especially soldiers from the Thirty Years' War, recovered in the spa, which used healing properties of the spring. In the 1750s, 500-600 soldiers were treated here at a time.
The facade of the church is marked with the Latin inscription "Benedicite Fontes Domino" ("Bless the Fountain of the Lord") with the chronogram M, D, C (= 1600). In 1811, a burgher from Jindřichův Hradec donated a picture of the Madonna to the church for being healed here, which hung here until 1895. It is now in the National Gallery in Prague in the St. Agnes Monastery under the name Assumpta of Deštná.
Later, the spa slowly declined. Only providing a space to bottled and sell its spring water.
Bohuslav Balbín, who was treated here, ranked the Deštna spa just behind Karlovy Vary and Teplice. Bohuslav Balbín described a miraculous event in his book "Miscellanea" as follows (continued below):

"In 1599, on St. Catherine's Day (November 25), a poor woman, a widow named Kateřina Urbanova (Urbanczová), who used to suffer from headaches, was returning from the village of Světcí to the town of Deštná, with no doctors being able to heal her.
The sun had not yet set, when she saw on one of the hills an old man clothed with priestly robes, overflowing with age and majesty, kneeling. Next to him was a three-year-old, as it might seem, a little boy, dressed in a white robe, who also seemed to be praying, holding a torch with a bright light with both hands. The vision was not a terrible one for the woman, but one pleasant and kind. Because even she was encouraged by this piety, and to her knees she lowered herself.
Praying, she watched on as if the heavens were threatening with storms and lightning. The heavens flashed three times, each time the old man bowed his head until he touched the ground with his forehead. The woman’s vision immediately darkened, and she observed that the appearance of the old man and the boy has disappeared. However, she approached the place where they stood fearlessly, and she saw that three springs of very pure water had sprung up here, which neither she nor others, who had often come here, had ever seen before.
Immediately compelled by her pain, the woman took some water with her hand and in the name of the Lord, washed her eyes and whole head, and felt that all pain disappeared as if after imbibing some very effective medicine and that she was healthy again. The history of the sourcecontinues
In 2003, our company bought a defunct soda factory in the village of Deštná near Jindřichův Hradec, which owned a source of spring water with a history dating back to 1599. The factory was reconstructed under the OPEI Real Estate Program, with the support of the European Union. We are equipped with new modern technology. We pour the spring water into large barrels and sell it to both direct customers and companies that distribute this water throughout the country. The companies we work with include Cooler Services CZ s.r.o., Aquara s.r.o., Watercooler System s.r.o. , Crystalis s.r.o. Rosana s.r.o., Saharu s.r.o. and many others.

Because we are proud of the history of our spring, we have shown these important facts on our new label, especially the coat of arms of the town of Deštná. At the same time, thanks to its history and memorable place, we achieved the registration of the name Svatojánský pramen with the Industrial Property Office as a protected name.
We are very proud that our company has managed to bring a part of the history of the Czech Republic back to life, and now we bring you excellent water with more than 400 years of history – Svatojánský Pramen.
